Amazon is significantly ramping up its quick commerce ambitions in India with plans to launch more than 100 Urban Fulfilment Centers (UFCs) across the country, as competition intensifies in the fast-growing instant delivery market.
The new facilities are expected to strengthen Amazon Now, the company’s quick commerce service, by dramatically expanding product selection and enabling faster deliveries across major urban centres.
The announcement comes ahead of Prime Day 2026 and signals Amazon’s intention to compete more aggressively with established quick commerce players that have rapidly expanded their presence in India’s metropolitan markets.
What Are Urban Fulfilment Centers?
Urban Fulfilment Centers are larger-format logistics facilities designed to store a wider assortment of products closer to consumers.
Unlike traditional micro fulfilment centres that primarily focus on a limited inventory of frequently purchased items, the new UFCs will support a much broader product catalogue while maintaining rapid delivery timelines.
According to Amazon, these centres will offer nearly four times more product selection than what is currently available through Amazon Now.
The company plans to stock a wide range of categories including apparel, electronics, jewellery, footwear, luggage, watches, furniture, musical instruments, groceries, baby products, pet care products, personal care items, healthcare supplements, and household essentials.
Products stored at these facilities will be delivered within minutes through Amazon’s expanding quick commerce network.
Which Cities Will Get The New Facilities First?
Amazon will initially roll out the Urban Fulfilment Centers across five major metropolitan regions.
The first phase of expansion will cover Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
These cities represent some of India’s largest e-commerce and quick commerce markets, where demand for ultra-fast deliveries continues to rise.
The company is expected to gradually expand the model to additional locations as it scales its quick commerce operations nationwide.

The expansion is part of Amazon’s previously announced investment of more than ₹2,800 crore in India.

Alongside its logistics expansion, Amazon also highlighted its Ashray initiative, which provides dedicated rest centres for delivery associates.
These centres offer facilities such as seating, drinking water, charging points, washrooms, and rest areas for delivery personnel.
The company recently announced plans to expand the number of Ashray centres from 100 to 250 during 2026 as part of its focus on workforce welfare and operational sustainability.
